SEGA’s iconic 1989 arcade hack-and-slash classic is officially getting a radical, meta-comedy makeover. Paramount+ has officially dropped the first bloody trailer for its upcoming adult animated adaptation of Golden Axe via the official Paramount+ YouTube Channel.
Originally slated to air on Comedy Central when it was first announced, the project has officially shifted streaming homes and locked down a firm premium release window.

Facing "A Series of Progressively Harder Enemies"
Produced by the animation masterminds at Titmouse, the 10-episode comedy serves as a hilarious, self-aware homage to vintage dark fantasy tropes and retro gaming mechanics. The narrative follows the game’s legendary trio as they reunite to defend the kingdom of Yuria from the evil giant Death Adder, who simply refuses to stay dead.
As showcased in the official IGN trailer breakdown, their standard fantasy quest gets hilariously derailed by the arrival of Hampton Squib—a completely clueless, wildly underprepared first-time adventurer whose dreams of heroism far outweigh his lack of actual survival skills.
From executing classic pixel-perfect "fire magic" to meta-jokes about walking face-first into traps and grinding through generic mini-bosses, the series looks to strike a unique balance between extreme cartoon gore and sharp parody.
