Achieving landmark figures in an active toy line is no small feat, and Hasbro has chosen to celebrate a major milestone with a completely fresh face. Making his official entry into the active-duty roster as milestone figure #200, G.I. Joe Classified Series Alejandro Balam "Sundown" Luna Mendoza marks an incredibly distinct expansion of the toy line.
Ditching the standard tactical camouflage for a rugged, modern Wild West aesthetic, Sundown brings a brand-new role to the anti-Cobra task force: an independent Bounty Hunter and specialized Tracker. Originating from Xalapa, Mexico, and packing a background in the Fuerzas Especiales, Alejandro joins the team with a deeply personal motivation: hunting down the notorious drug kingpin Headman and his ruthless Lords of the Underworld cartel following the kidnapping of his twin brother, Salvador Ramon.
This premium 6-inch scale figure comes heavily packed inside a collector-friendly window box display, bursting with unique storytelling gear:
- Removable Cowhide-Style Poncho: A beautifully sculpted, multi-toned blue and beige fabric-look cloak that drapes seamlessly across his shoulders.
- Classic Tracker Tools: A heavily textured survival hatchet and a tactical tracking knife.
- Dual Western Six-Shooters: Two highly detailed revolver pistols that fit perfectly into functional thigh holsters.
- Removable Stetson Cowboy Hat: A distinct wide-brimmed hat sculpted to seat snugly over his detailed head sculpt.
Collector's Eye: Why This Figure Is Worth Adding to Your Shelf
My Personal Insight: Many modern lines fall back heavily on recycling vintage repaints, but figure #200 stands out because it takes a creative risk. The rugged lone-gunfighter silhouette gives him massive shelf presence. Furthermore, his inclusion connects perfectly with classic G.I. Joe: Battle Corps and D.E.F. lore by bringing Headman back as an active threat. If you love displaying your figures alongside other unique Joes like Wild Bill and Spirit, Sundown is a mandatory, visually striking addition to your collection.
